Transport

New York does not have its own Tyne and Wear Metro station; however, nearby Shiremoor does. Many bus routes operate through New York as it is located next to Cobalt Business Park and the Silverlink Retail Park. New York also benefits from an extensive bus service to the town of Whitley Bay, even though the town of North Shields is slightly closer to the village.

Development

Currently development is underway to transform the old pub called The Dun Cow into a small block of apartments. Also next door to the apartments development has begun to transform the old car showroom into a dance studio and a coffee shop.
